1. What is Aqiqah?
Aqiqah is a recommended act of worship performed upon the birth of a child as a sign of gratitude, involving the sacrifice of an animal and distribution of its meat.
The recommended Aqiqah for a newborn boy: 2 goats/sheep,
and for a newborn girl: 1 goat/sheep.
2. When should Aqiqah be performed?
It is recommended to perform Aqiqah on the 7th day after birth, but it can be done at any time thereafter if delayed.
3. Will the meat be distributed on my behalf?
Yes. The meat will be cooked and distributed to beneficiaries by our appointed partners.
4. Can I perform Aqiqah for my child if I did not do it before, but my child has already reached puberty (baligh)?
If the child reaches puberty before the Aqiqah is performed, it is recommended (sunnah) for the child to perform their own Aqiqah. Alternatively, if the parents wish to perform the Aqiqah on behalf of their child after puberty, they should first inform them and seek their consent.
5. If my child passes away, can I still perform Aqiqah on their behalf?
Yes, Aqiqah can still be performed on behalf of a child who has passed away if the parents have not done so before.
6. Will I be informed once the Aqiqah is completed?
Yes. You will receive a notification via email or WhatsApp once the slaughter and distribution have been completed.
7. Will I receive any documentation?
Yes. You will be notified once the Aqiqah has been carried out. A certificate of Aqiqah and selected photos will be shared within 1–2 months after completion.
