Ustazah Shameem Sultanah is the CEO of Ilm By Shameem Sultanah, a leading Islamic education centre in Singapore and the Director of Ilm Tours. A registered Islamic teacher under the Asatizah Recognition Scheme (ARS), she has over 16 years of experience in public speaking and community education. She is widely respected for her clarity in teaching, unique style of delivering Islamic knowledge and her ability to make complex concepts relatable to everyday life.
Her Background
Her journey into Islamic scholarship is both unique and inspiring. Not coming from a local madrasah background, she was educated in secular schools up to her ‘O’ Levels. After performing her first Umrah at 15, she developed a deep desire to understand the Qur’an. At 17, she travelled to Indonesia to pursue full-time religious studies at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, one of the region’s most renowned Islamic boarding schools. She later furthered her studies in Syari'ah Islamiyyah at Al-Azhar University in Cairo and subsequently studied Counselling Psychology at Lee Community College in Singapore, equipping her with a holistic approach to teaching and nurturing the community.

Throughout her career, Ustazah Shameem has delivered lectures at nearly 70 mosques across Singapore and has spoken at hundreds of community events, including meaningful sessions for inmates in Singapore’s prison institutions.
She has also shared the stage with international scholars from the USA, Malaysia and Indonesia, strengthening her presence in the global Islamic education landscape. Her work extends beyond Singapore; she has been invited to Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, and New Zealand to deliver talks and engage with local communities, inspiring them with her warmth, relatability, and sincerity.

In the digital sphere, she shares knowledge daily with a global audience of over half a million followers on Instagram. Her relatable delivery, engaging tone and ability to simplify deep Islamic concepts have made her one of the region’s most influential voices online.

She previously served as a Registration Officer for Conversion at the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore, where she facilitated hundreds of conversions over four years, giving her deep insight into the needs, challenges and spiritual journeys of new Muslims.
Her weekly online classes, in-person mosque sessions and monthly Ilm Events talks draw massive crowds, reflective of the deep trust and affection the community has for her.

Ustazah Shameem has led numerous groups to Mecca, Madinah and Baitul Maqdis, guiding pilgrims with care, knowledge and reflection.
